One way to send Free SMS text messages from an iPhone

If you are trying to cut down cost on text messages with your iPhone, try this one way of sending free SMS text messages. The trick is to send free text messages using AIM (AOL Instant Messenger).

Start saving by doing the following simple steps on how to send free text messages using your iPhone:

1. Download and install AIM client for iPhone from Apple Store;

2. Open iChat or any other AIM client used in the mobile device;

3. Create a new buddy contact, and set the AIM address as the complete cellphone number (with country and area code) preceding with a plus sign (+). For example, +12065550551;

Cell Phone AIM Contact via iChat4. On the iPhone, run AIM client. Once connected to the AIM service, the AIM client will load the stored buddy list from the AIM server. It will also reveal the new AIM contact with the cell phone number you created via iChat.

5. Tap the buddy name that you want to send text messages to;

6. Compose the text message and tap Send to send.

Should there be a reply from the recipient, the return message will appear in the AIM client.
